8YY: The FCC’s Plan to Eliminate Arbitrage in the Toll-Free Market

Recorded: Tuesday, September 11, 2018

The FCC’s latest move to root out arbitrage in the switched access market is now official with the release of its Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FNPRM) in Docket 18-156. And it looks like the FCC means business, because the FNPRM is filled with a host of stringent measures that if adopted will gut most, if not all, toll-free arbitrage schemes.

Register for CCMI Hub’s on-demand webinar, 8YY: The FCC’s Plan to Eliminate Arbitrage in the Toll-Free Market, and hear CCMI’s FCC insider, Andy Regitsky, detail the toll-free arbitrage problems that exist today and explain the steps the FCC wants to take to eliminate them once and for all. The FCC’s plans - like capping toll-free database query charges and moving originating access to bill-and-keep for all toll-free calls – are sure to provoke stiff resistance from competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) and incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs) that operate in primarily rural areas.

Make sure you understand exactly what the FCC’s NPRM proposes, and all the arguments, pro and con.
